During the stage of pregnancy, a woman must take extreme care and caution with everything he does. Thus, food is key. Therefore, from this health blog we focus on one of these aspects of pregnancy: food-borne diseases.

The bacteria are usually primarily responsible for generating food-borne illnesses in pregnancy.

Therefore, among the diseases that are transmitted through food is toxoplasmosis, which transmit the parasite responsible for this disease is called Toxoplasma gondii. The symptoms it produces are very mild or almost negligible, but the symptoms resemble the flu. The problem is that this parasite can infect the fetus, since it can enter the placenta. This parasite in raw meat. Why it is so necessary to cook food thoroughly and that pregnant women not to eat raw meat.

Another disease that is transmitted through food is listeriosis, caused by the bacterium Listeria monocytogenes. Can also be transmitted through raw products, fruits or vegetables that have not been thoroughly washed. The greatest risk of this type of disease is whether the new baby arrives. To avoid this, the mother has to take antibiotics.

Methylmercury poisoning can also include in this list. Methylmercury is a toxic chemical, particularly dangerous for pregnant women. Is present in polluted rivers and seas and usually stay in the tissue of fish, like swordfish. This disease affects the brain of the fetus.

Eating healthy foods can help you have a healthy baby. Sometimes it’s hard to know what foods to eat

Overall, most women need about 300 extra calories during pregnancy. However, the exact amount of extra calories you need depends on your weight before pregnancy. Talk with your health care professional to find out what is best for you.

Try to eat foods from each food group each day, because they provide important nutrients that you and your baby needs. But how much you should eat per day while pregnant? Follow the food guide below. If your health care professional has recommended it, you should take a prenatal vitamin.

Note: Fatty foods (like donuts, and potato chips) and sweets (like sodas, cookies and candies) will not provide your baby enough of what you need to grow.

Grain
Eat 6 ounces each day. Each food is then equal to 6 ounces:

* 1 slice bread
* 1 cup of ready to eat dry cereal
* 1 / 2 cup rice, pasta or cooked cereal
* A small tortilla (6 “in diameter)

Vegetables
Eat 2 1 / 2 cups of vegetables each day. 1 cup of vegetables equals:

* 1 cup raw or cooked vegetables
* 1 cup vegetable jJugo (avoid unpasteurized juices)
* 2 cups raw green leafy vegetables (like lettuce or spinach)
* 1 small baked potato (2 1 / 2 “to 3″ in diameter, do not put lots of butter, bacon bits or sour cream)

Protein
Eat 5-5 1 / 2 ounces each day. Poultry meat and low in fat and some types of fish are good choices.
Each food is then equal to about one ounce in this food group:

* 1 / 4 cup of beans / cooked dry beans
* 1 egg
* 1 tablespoon peanut butter (peanuts)
* 1 / 2 ounce of nuts or seeds (12 almonds, 24 pistachios)
* 1 ounce of meat, poultry or fish, low fat

Milk and Milk Products
Eat three cups each day. Milk and yogurt are good choices.
Each food is then equal to about 1 cup:

* 1 1 / 2 ounces of natural cheese
* 1 cup milk
* 1 cup yogurt
* 2 ounces of processed cheese (eg, american cheese)

Avoid soft cheeses such as feta, Brie, Camembert, Roquefort, blue-vein cheese, soft cheese, queso fresco or Panela, unless the label indicates that the cheese was made with pasteurized milk.

Fruit
Eat 1 1 / 2 to 2 cups of fruit each day. 1 / 2 cup of fruit equals:

Once you become pregnant, should consume between 100-300 extra calories per day. If your weight is within normal limits, should not increase more than 35 pounds during pregnancy. If you have trouble maintaining a healthy weight, if this can be different.

Before becoming pregnant, you should try to eat healthy foods to be as healthy as possible. Many of us know how we can improve our diet, but also know how difficult that may be changing what we eat and how much we eat.

It may be easier to incorporate more healthy foods in your diet before you leave foods that are bad for health. To start, add more fruits and vegetables to your diet. This is the move towards a more balanced diet including:

Carbohydrates
or Carbohydrates should be a little more than half of what we eat. Try to get the most whole grain carbohydrates such as bread and rice. Avoid sugary foods and drinks such as candy and soda.

Proteins
or Protein helps the growth of the fetus. They are found in meat and dairy products as well as tofu and beans. Even if you follow a vegetarian diet, strict or not, you can enjoy a healthy pregnancy. However, check with your supplier of health care to make sure you eat enough protein.

Fats
or fats help absorb vitamins. Most people get enough. During pregnancy, it is important to incorporate fats from fish and vegetables.

Fibers
or fibers are derived from fruits, vegetables and whole grains. Eat at least 3-5 servings per day. Many women experience constipation during pregnancy. Foods that contain fiber help prevent it
